La petite ferme is a small-scale vegetable farm started in 2022 by Julie, your family farmer! In 2022 the farm provided fresh, naturally grown vegetables to 11 households. In 2023, we provided weekly veggie shares to 30 households and to 40 in 2024.
At La Petite Ferme almost everything is done by hand or with hand powered tools, except for tilling! I use only natural fertilizers, mostly compost and composted chicken manure. For controlling bugs (because they really like my veggies too!) I use physical barriers or products that comply with current organic standards. I also use techniques that preserve soil health and reduce erosion (reduced tilling, cover crops and biodegradable mulches).
La petite ferme is located at O’Brien Farm, and we’ve been so happy to be a part of their Farm Incubator Program. This program helps new farmers by providing access to land, tools, knowledge and lots of other things!
